Larry Lewis | Board Chair
Starting my career in the US Navy. I was able to transition those skill sets to a profession with 30 years’ experience in Sales and Sales management. , Having worked in various aspects of Industrial automation from simple parts to fully autonomous Robots. Having worked managing sales for Large global companies to owning a distributor for Industrial parts and Robotic End of Arm tooling. Responsible for dramatic sales growth in every position held regardless of market trends.
Alan Ware | Chair Elect
Alan obtained his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Bradley University (Peoria, IL) in 2007. He specializes in CAD design/drafting and 3D printing with experience gained working for building automation, telecommunication, and defense contractors. He currently does educational, manufacturing, and technical consulting under the business name of AMW Design. In concert with work under AMW Design, he also taught one of the first 3D printing classes in the country for Sierra College, led a finalist team at the 2017 AG/SUM Hackathon in Tokyo, Japan, co-founded an educational non-profit organization(CodeForHood), and recently competed on an episode of Shop Class, viewable on Disney Plus. Alan continues to work with various organizations in the Sacramento area and beyond.
Mike Bell | Secretary & Membership
Mike acquired his B.S. and M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from CSU, Sacramento (CSUS). His passion is in helping people develop skills and gain experience to reach their full potential in any in industry they love. He currently splits his time between being an adjunct professor at CSUS and Sierra College. He assists mechanical engineering senior students with project management for their capstone project at CSUS. At Sierra, he teaches computer aided machining (CAM) and CNC setup and operation on the latest CNC machines in industry. He also operates a small consulting business called Nexus Machine Design, where he contracts his time as a design, manufacturing, and applications engineer for a variety of automated and/or robotic processes.
Jon Nexsen | Treasurer
Jon is a CPA and manager in CLA’s manufacturing and distribution assurance practice. He has more than 17 years of experience providing assurance and accounting services to a variety of manufacturing and distribution, gaming, agriculture, professional services, and emerging growth companies. Jon provides assurance services to non-public entities and has extensive experience assisting companies with regard to their revenue recognition practices, inventory management, stock-based compensation and a variety of other accounting issues. Jon came to CLA after 14 years with Ernst & Young.

Teri Munger | SME Expo Director
Teri spent 30 years in the Silicon Valley tech industry. From Atari to Microsoft, HP and Intel, Teri’s background in business brought a corporate mindset to her 10 year role in the CA Community College system. Through 40 years of leadership positions, Teri has created and executed ambitious large scale projects, earned numerous accolades for her work in the tech industry, including HP’s “Corporate Citizen of the Year” and “HP’s Most Valuable Person Award”. Teri’s life work has been about giving back and uplifting the communities she resides in. From an early age Teri has worked with community based organizations, volunteering her time and fundraising. As a former foster parent, a member of numerous boards and as Sacramento’s Mayor Kevin Johnson’s Volunteer Sacramento Program Director, Teri walks the talk of social engagement. Teri is an expert at building relationships, training, grant management, project management and fundraising and looks forward to using these skills on the SME board.
Ashley Slovak | Communication
Ashley obtained her AA in Communication from Sierra College and went on to graduate from UC Santa Barbara with a degree in Global Studies, emphasizing in Latin America. She has over 15 years of experience in event planning, marketing and outreach roles. Ashley is a graduate of Roseville Leadership Class 2007 and Bank of America’s Emerging Leaders Class 2010. She currently works at Folsom Lake College, where she assists students in achieving their career and education goals. She is passionate about professional networking, connecting companies and individuals, non-profit outreach and being a part of a growing region. In her free time, Ashley enjoys hiking, working out, and spending time with her husband, three children and four fur babies.
Alex Briggs-Hamilton | Student Chapter Engagement
Bachelors of fine arts from Sacramento State, and Technology Design associates from American River College. Exploring the potential of Additive and Advanced Manufacturing, and deeply inspired by biomorphic and organic material design solutions. Past work experience includes:
- Chief steward and assisted Brokers in Yacht sales with San Lorenzo Yacht Company for 3 years
- Competitive Commissioned Sales Consultant at Peter Lik Fine Art Photography Gallery in Maui for four years
- Student Ambassador for Autodesk Fusion 360 for 6 months
- Currently looking for Internship in Product Design
- Worked in yacht construction for 2 years internationally (building boats form the frame to finish).

Steve graduated from San Diego State University with an M.A. in Industrial Arts, with an emphasis in plastic materials and processes, product design and documentation. Currently, he works with the 7 local Community Colleges and industry partners in strengthening their career pathway offerings related to manufacturing.
